About
Owen Marcus, M.A.
Owen started the Rolfing Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ in 1980 where he employed a staff of Rolfers, physicians and other health care providers. The Rolfing Clinic became the model of other holistic clinics because if its success with chronic pain clients and professional athletes.
To expand beyond the scope of the Rolfing Clinic Owen co-founded the Scottsdale Institute of Health and Medicine. One of the Institute’s successes was developing a leading Mindfulness Stress Reduction Program for hospital and corporate networks. The Rolfing Clinic also sponsored the first research on Rolfing’s success with enhancing athletic performance through its study with ASU.
Owen moved the Rolfing Clinic to Sandpoint, ID in 1997 to live a simpler life. On a smaller scale than before, Owen maintains his integration of a broad spectrum of allopathic and holistic modalities in his Rolfing work. He is investigating Rolfing’s effect on cellulite with his pilot study on cellulite reduction.
From the beginning of working with clients at the clinic in Scottsdale Owen saw that often the deep changes Rolfing produced required special support. Not only would clients’ bodies transform, but so could their lives from the release of chronic stress. At times, these profound changes would be out of the box of what clients knew. This need to assist clients in expanding their understanding of how stress impacts them was the main impetus to Owen’s creating a blog on stress – StressedOut.org. To support in the unique changes Rolfing can produce Owen created a blog for supporting the clients of all Rolfers – RolfHub.com.
